Short blog, long tees

So I've got oodles of pictures, but at the moment I want to murder my camera or computer, I haven't decided who to blame yet; they just are not cooperating though. So instead of talking without pictures, I'll just wait on that post for a future date.
This posting is going out to the G-wearing Girlies out there. We have a patient who has an online company, miabellina.com, and they have shade-like shirts that don't cut off circulation in your armpits, which always seems to be my complaint with shade, apparently my armpits are a little too chubby. They also have this little halfy shirt that is perfect for shirts that are already long, but you need something for on top or the sleeves and you don't want it all bunchy at the waist. And the best part of all is that she was in today and gave me the coupon code for summer which will get you 20% off. So check them out, buy some, and the code is: PC20. ENJOY!
P.S. Life is good today because I'm eating Lay's Salt and Vinegar chips for dinner tonight! :)

Phase 1 of Extreme Makeover...

...Home edition. I'm sure you all thought I was talking about my own extreme makeover that I think will start with a Brazilian Butt Lift. TMI. Sorry. Anyways, we painted yesterday! Hooray for color! Thanks especially to Brooke and Sara for all their help, Oakley, Liz and Brynny for the comic relief, and Aly for the delicious as always Taco Bell. Anyways, so I've got lots of pictures, but my camera/computer is being ornery and I can't seem to get them from one to the other, and since I am so not tech-savvy, we'll wait until Philip gets home. Then last night we talked to Jason about molding and whatnot and that got us all excited, so we ripped out all of the baseboards and casing in our extra bedroom and today I am tackling our room. I feel like such a handy man with my crowbar (sp?), hammer and razor blade. I seriously need like a tool belt or something because holding on to all of those when on a stool isn't fun, as I almost lost a toe this morning when the razor blade slipped out from the waistband of my basketball shorts, which is what I was trying to pass off as a pocket. Man, where are my cargo pants or shorts from 7-9th grade when I really need them? And in case you were wondering, life is good today because the lady that helped me at the post office yesterday had her zipper down. :) I'm 12.

Life is Good...

I've been in the best mood lately...not sure why. So anyways, here are five reasons life is good today.
#5
Brooke surprised me when I got to work today with my very favorite Peach Pleasure from Jamba Juice. Isn't she a sweetheart?
#4
I've designated today as casual Wednesday which means I'm wearing shorts at work. It's like business on top and party on bottom, very similar to a mullet.
#3
I got lots of sleep last night.
#2
We got a fatty check from Walgreens this week to reimburse some of Philip's prereqs, hooray for unexpected money!
#1
I love my life, I love my family, I love my husband, I love my house, I love my job, I love my friends, I don't know, I'm just feeling really optimistic. Oh, and I love the shirt I'm wearing right now. Life is good. I love my life. The only thing that is not making me happy today is allergies. Stupid allergies. Anyways, have a fabulous afternoon!

Two down, 846 kajillion to go!

Has it really been two whole years since this glorious day? It sure has and let me tell you, if I thought I was lucky then, I now know for sure that I truly am the luckiest girl in the whole wide universe.
Today being our anniversary, we have done quite a bit of celebrating this weekend. We have been eating lots of delicious food, saw a movie, went to a show, ate more food, watched some baseball games, done a bit of shopping, oh and get this, this morning I made breakfast, which I'm pretty sure is the first time I've done that since....oh....maybe like November or December? Yes, that alone is reason to celebrate. Anywho, the most fabulous part of it all is that I have been able to spend like the past 48+ hours with my adorable babe, without any stress or interruptions, which has been sheer bliss if you ask me!
Anywho, I thought that in the spirit of the season I would tell you all just how lucky I am and give you a couple reasons to love Philip as much as I do.
Here goes:
he is hilarious, but in a very smart way so everything is just always very clever, very Arrested Development, Jon Stewart, and It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia type humor;
he does however stoop down to my toilet humor level sometimes and gives me a hearty pity laugh;
he always smells so very delicious;
he is so very organized and borderline OCD and loves things to be presented in a organized manner;
he loves to dress up and look nice;
he likes nice clothes;
he coordinates every aspect of his outfits like you wouldn't believe;
he still opens my door, and as far as I can tell, isn't stopping anytime soon;
he is just so smart and doesn't judge me when I have to ask him what things mean all the time;
he is the ultimate Melissa-opposite, which makes our relationship very odd and absolutely perfect at the same time;
he lets me do all the decorating and will only give me an opinion if I ask for it;
he picks out my clothes and does a better job at it than I do;
he isn't afraid to speak his mind;
he's down right attractive;
he has the cutest eyes I've seen in my entire life;
he constantly says to me, "You're so pretty, babe.";
and lastly, he loves me. A lot. I have not yet figured out why, but he lets me know it on a very regular basis despite my absolute craziness and the many many not awesome things about me. Yes yes, I really am the luckiest girl in the entire world!
Happy Anniversary to me and Philip!
P.S. Just so we're all on the same page, these are obviously not the only reasons I love my sweet husband, these are just the first 18 or so things that come to mind, and this posting was already getting kind of long, so I gave you the very very very abbreviated version!

Weekend Update

So last night I went to a baby shower for Philip's friend Lindsi. Well, I suppose she is my friend too, but I was maybe super nervous because I hadn't ever been to something like this without Philip going with me. I was totally excited that they did think to invite me, but you know me, always a little/a lot unsure of myself. Anyways, I decided that as long as my present was cute, I would survive. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as cute as I wanted it to, but the fact that it was pink polka dots helped my cause a lot. Here's what it looked like, sorry it's blurry. Then today I was thinking that I would paint my bedroom because it is this not so cute green that I thought I would really like two years ago when I first painted, but it just looks like trash on my walls, so I have been dying to repaint it. However, since I never did get around to choosing a color for our extra bedroom, it never did get a color at all, and Philip was very sweet about me repainting the kitchen last summer after getting tired of that color after a year, but he laid down the law this summer and told me that I couldn't repaint our room until I painted the extra bedroom. Sooooo, here's my dilemma, any ideas for colors? I was thinking like a mauve-ish color for my room, (don't think mauve like 1997 mauve fingernail polish, I saw it in Pottery Barn and it looked really pretty) and I've got nothing for the extra bedroom. I was thinking blue at one point, but I already have two blue rooms in my house. Our front bathroom: which yes, really is that color with hot pink and white towels. Don't I have the nicest husband in the world that lets me do kind of weird colors and whatever my little color loving heart desires at the moment? Yeah, Philip's awesome, maybe we should call him. Anyways, then I have this bright, light blue in our living room: which is looking a little bit grey in the picture, hopefully your monitor is better than mine. So yeah, already have two blues, a grey, and the green that will be repainted. So does anyone have any ideas for either of the rooms? Mind you that we have dark furniture in both, not black but like the cherry/mahogany/espresso color-ish. I just had the thought of doing the extra bedroom a turquoisy, kind of like the tiffany's bag color. Yes? Anywho, I would love any input that anyone may have. Alright, now that I have typed your ears off, I need to go. Project Friday awaits, which went from being painting my house to making baby shower invites for Chris and Beth's shower! Hooray! I'm excited! Anywho, have a fabulous weekend!

AMAZING NEWS!!!

I got A's in my classes! I checked my grades yesterday to see if anything had been posted and to my surprise, all three of my grades had been posted and even more to my surprise, they were all A's! I actually screamed when I saw them sittin' pretty there on the screen, and then I printed it up and posted it on my fridge (do we ever get too old for that?). So anyways, not that it was an impossible task, but I really just didn't want to get my hopes up, and I was totally borderline in all of my classes where my final would make or break it, and luckily for me, it made it! So that's all. Sorry to be all braggy, but I was so so so so excited and now I feel like I have a serious shot at getting accepted fairly quickly to hygiene school! That's all friends, have a fabulous evening!

Happy Mel is back!

I'M DONE!! Hooray I am done with school! I think that finals went okay-ish, pretty sure I'll get an A in Micro, but my Chemistry test might as well have been in French, because I had no clue what was going on. Oh well! It's done and over and I am tired of caring about it! So this weekend has been fabulous for like 7 reasons.
#1, no underlying stress that usually accompanies my procrastination.
#2, I got to start reading again, Harry Potter #1-6, here I come before July 21st when book 7 comes out!
#3, Philip and I went swimming yesterday in our dirty complex pool, it was gross but fun because of no stress. I got a bit of a sunburn, hooray for color!
#4, I forgot how happy no school makes me,
#5, Regis and Kelly have their mother's day special where they give stuff to deserving moms, and I cry and cry and cry.
#6, I bought myself a new shirt as a congratulatory present for finishing and
#7, I can blog all I want without feeling guilty!
Anywho, now that I have loads of time on my hands, I think I'll go bowling, which is where the picture comes in. Maybe not really, but don't I have awesome form?! Thanks everyone for putting up with Cranky School Melissa. I know she sucks, and I hate her too, but she's gone and Happy Mel is back!

School is for Suckers...for real.

So I have two more finals, one tonight and one tomorrow, either of which I could and should be studying for right now, and that just isn't happening. Instead, I got out my notebook and added up my points and looked at total possible, and figured out how many I can MISS on the final and still get an A in the class. In Micro I can miss 18.5, and in Chemistry I can miss 35. Isn't that exciting? But if I would just study instead of figuring out these numbers, and blogging about it right after, I would probably be doing better in the class anyways. I'm sure I'm not the only one that does this though...right guys?

I'm recruiting!

Guess what? I have recruited friends for us! On Monday I gave our blog address to Mary Jo, and then I was talking to Mollie last night and she said that she and Mary Jo stalked all of our blogs for quite some time! Hooray! Stalking is the preliminary step towards starting your own, so everyone say hi to Mary Jo and Mollie Merrill/Montague, and let's get them on this bandwagon immediately so that we can all have more friends!

It's a neighborly day in the beautyhood...

Mom recently asked me if we still had the crazy neighbors downstairs from us, and I'm happy to report no, they moved out after he got arrested. Then the wannabe professional skater and his ho-ish/stripper girlfriend with the husky voice moved in and out (one time she said "What's up Mama?" to me, awesome right?), and then it's been vacant for the past several months with random people coming to it like on the weekends sometimes, I don't know it's weird. Anywho, we're happy to introduce you to our new neighbors! This is the van that they we think they brought stuff in, the only stuff we actually saw was a set of these chairs, so maybe it's not an official move in, but I thought it was too white trash not to take a picture of. I love our trashy hood!

H-Cut

Oh, for those of you that don't live in Mesa, I cut my hair last month. Crazy, I know, but I was kind of sick of feeling like a frumpy wife with pioneer hair and kind of hating myself so I took some drastic measures. Anyways, sorry about the picture, I took it with my phone to send to Kev and it's the only one that I have. So yeah, it's short and new, and I think I like it. The end.

Thanks Dad...

Hola familia, so I've realized more and more lately how much I am like Melvin. Shoot we're practically twins. So I thought I would make a list of things I have inherited from him, genitcally or just habitually, all from our favorite Melvie. Feel free to make your own list, it's actually really fun, or Aly, you can make a list of what you got from Mom, that would include her cute ankles, jerk.

From Mel to Mel: his name because I'm the favorite, his diet pepsi addiction, his hotdog eyes, his teeth and the way we grind them, his legs, his Jones booty, his lead foot aka need for speed aka driving record, his love of reading, his sweat glands (awesome huh?), his hair - which includes my crazy arm hair, his smarts (only sometimes for me), his love of driving, his procrastination, his love for Costco, his expensive taste, his dislike of talking on the phone, his hands, his criticism, his nerdy sense of humor, his wake up face - where people can tell if we've taken a nap in the past five hours, his deep sleeping, his love of afternoon naps, his non-enthusiasm for exercising (keep up the good work with the eliptical), his sensibility/realistic -ness, his love of music, his innie belly button - sorry that the rest of you got outies :), his work ethic - at least I think so, his love for ColdStone, um... I think that that's all I can think of right now. Anywho, Dad's awesome, maybe we should call him (guess what show?). But for reals, he's a champ. I love you cats! Have a great day!

Primary

So in my ward I am currently the Sunbeams teacher, which I absolutely love because kids are funny and weird. Anyways, on Sunday we were sitting in Sharing Time and I had a little girl named Harmony on my lap. Out of nowhere she decides to let one rip; it wasn't totally loud or stinky or anything, but it totally just grossed me out because I could feel it on my lap! (Make a throw up sound in your head because that's what I did but I don't know how to spell that sound!) So then a little bit later I looked down and realized that Harmony had snot running down to her lip, so I grabbed the bottom of her dress and wiped her nose with it. Usually I would feel kind of bad doing this, but since I had seen her picking her nose earlier and wiping it on her dress, I figured that a little more snot couldn't hurt, right?! So then, I also had Catie sitting next to me, and Catie bites her fingernails like crazy, which makes me laugh because she is three and already has such a bad habit. So I had my hand on her lap because she is generally quite entertained by my rings or watch or bracelet and it keeps her quiet. So she was messing with my jewelry and then she picks up my hand and kind of brushes it along her lips, and before I realized it, she was nibbling on my fingernails! It was so funny but not enough for me to let her keep going. That's all. I love my primary kids, they are hilarious.
