Update...

Guess what yesterday was?
Philip's last day of school! We are now two elevenths done!
He is SOOO excited, and this is his excited face:

I really am just so proud of him! He works so dang hard, and yesterday morning I looked over his shoulder while he was doing some last minute studying, and saw some crazy stuff.

So just now I cracked open his notebook and found this:

Yikes. My husband is WAY smarter than I'll ever be...thank goodness that I never have to take Chemistry crap again.

In other news, I'm trying fairly hard to be healthy. I am eating lots of fruits and vegetables, we don't eat out hardly at all anymore, and this morning I even did a Power 90X workout.

This is what I want to look like:

I about died. Seriously, at the beginning of the dvd's they always have warnings that say if you have a bad heart not to do this and give all sorts of warnings and whatnot. Do you know what they don't say?

"Your legs are going to feel like they are on fire for at least the next 24-48 hours. Try squatting down to pick something up without having shooting pain run through your thighs...ha ha. You're a sucker, a big, fat, out of shape sucker."

So after I did my hardcore workout, I most likely negated it by eating top ramen for lunch. And then chasing that down with some of these:

Thank you girl scouts for giving me something so devilishly delightful that causes me to need to do that stupid workout. This, my friends, is why I am searching for dresses, because they are a little more forgiving than skirts. I tried on a pencil skirt recently, and looked like a big fat magic marker in it. Kind of depressing!

And lastly, on a completely different subject, I started and finished this book this week.

It was SERIOUSLY amazing! I couldn't read fast enough and had to make a very conscious effort to put the book down and study and be productive! Everyone needs to read it!

So that's all! Have a good weekend and start of next week guys!

Dear Fashion Industry,

Wait wait, let me rephrase that...
Dear Affordable Clothing Makers,
As of lately, I have noticed that my Sunday clothes are in a very sorry state. My clothes are all trashed, and I would now like several dresses and skirt/shirt combinations... so where might I go about finding those?
After lots and lots of looking, I finally found this little number at Target, which suits me just fine, but honestly, one dress after a whole day of looking is kind of /REALLY frustrating.

(and by the way, it is cuter in person...I swear)

Also, would you quit with the mini-dresses? Yes yes, they are adorable, but every time I see one I get all excited to see a dress with sleeves, and then realize that it comes like mid thigh, which requires nice legs and not a temple recommend.

I suppose I will now have to turn it over to the blogging world. So bloggers, where do you get your church clothes? Unfortunately your adorable Nordstrom finds for like $158 will not do, but I do know that unless we are looking at Forever 21 and Wet Seal, we aren't going to find dresses for crazy cheap. And I looked there, and they're the ones encouraging the mini-dress.

Thanks for your help bloggers, you guys are the best!

Love, Mel

Happy mail...

So tonight as I was in the midst of doing my radiology homework and looking at this VERY unpleasant sight, which looks kind of staged but it wasn't,
and paying far more attention to my delicious strawberry fruit bar,
and trying my very hardest to resist the urge to play WebSudoku,
Philip went to get the mail.
He came back and threw me a delightful little package with my name on it from a place called
Des Moines, Iowa.

It was from Jake and Natalie and their cute kids, and included a nice little note from Nat, adorable and hilarious pictures from the kids, gum- that I was desperately needing for my backpack, and last but not least, two of my FAVORITE things in the world:

fingernail polish and Sour Patch watermelon candies.

Lucky me that I am related to such a darling and thoughtful family.

Thanks Jake and Nat! You guys seriously made my night!

P.S. In case you've missed Family Week and are wondering who these people are, read all about them here!

School shmool.

So I know that you guys are all waiting anxiously to hear all of the riveting details of my first few days of school, right?
Well, the details are these:
Lots of reading
(and I still have to buy two more),
lots of driving,
lots of hand washing.
And the hand washing has to be in the correct format, and if you do it without your mask and glasses on, you fail for the day. And if you drop anything on the floor in the clinic, you're pretty much screwed, and you also fail for the day. Luckily for me, they aren't recording points for another couple weeks.
Also, I have lots of instructors. More specifically,
one that looks like Posh Spice/Victoria Beckham thirty years from now,
one that looks like a mouse...or a pigeon, I haven't decided which,
one that is totally gay, but he's such a sweetheart,
one that is the hygiene queen and I love her,
and more that I haven't met or had enough interaction with to decide which animal they remind me of.
So that's it. School is school. It's kind of stressful and I miss blogging already.
Hooray for one week almost done, and only like 56-ish more to go!
