We are done!!! Like I mentioned previously, we have finished our house for the most part and we had a party to celebrate our work!
Our yummy smorgasbord of treats last night... before we ate our way through it and it wasn't as pretty.
So I will now be taking you on our little journey as home owners.
We bought our condo while we were engaged, 2 1/2 years ago, and when we really had no clue what we were doing. When we first walked through it, I wasn't that impressed, but as we looked at more and more that day, we decided that this was our best bet. So we made an offer, and it was rejected. Waah. Luckily for us though, the offer that was accepted fell through, so they called us back and told us it was ours if we still wanted it!
The pictures that I have of it all old school style are from our final walk through, so the girl was almost moved out, only essentials were left...like her tv and iguana.
(Oh, and pretend that we don't look like we are like 12, and that we are still that skinny!)
Living Room Before:
After!
Things we've done:
painted,
carpeted,
Base boards, casing around doors and windows, and crown molding,
new blinds,
Scraped popcorn ceilings and had them retextured and painted,
changed all outlets and switches to look pretty and make sense,
new ceiling fan, &
digital thermostat.
View into the Kitchen from Living Room Before:
After!

Things we've done:
Clorox Wiped down every square millimeter that this small monster could have walked on, breathed on, shed on, or even looked at.
Kitchen Before:
After!
View from Kitchen into Dining area and hallway before:
After!

Things we've done:
painted (twice),
tiled,
painted cabinets,
new appliances,
new ceiling fan,
outlets and switches, &
molding
Things we still want to do:
New kitchen sink...sigh.
Front Bathroom Before:
TaDa!
Things we've done:
ripped out mirror, medicine cabinet, counter top, and vanity,
had those walls retextured,
painted,
installed new vanity,
new light fixture,
vent fan,
outlets (that's a given at this point right?)
hung mirror, towel rack and cabinet, &
new shower curtain rod that doesn't slide down the wall and destroy our drywall.
Extra Bedroom Before:
(but unfortunately after she had taken down all of the Betty Boop paraphernalia...not kidding)
AND...my favorite AFTER!!!
And just so you know, I've been told that pictures don't do this room justice, so just know that it's even cuter in real life.
This is probably my favorite part of our entire house:

Things we've done:
painted,
carpeted,
scraped popcorn ceiling and whatnot,
molding (of course),
new blinds,
ceiling fan,
got rid of a light switch that didn't make sense having,
closet door knobs (ha ha),
new AC vent, &
made it my own.
And finally...Our Bedroom Before:
This room, as well as the living room, had this HORRIBLE attempt at a faux finish, and the carpet had changed color where furniture wasn't. Also, take a look at the bathroom...can you say crappy motel bathroom? That's what it looked like. I hope that you can tell in the pictures.
Hooray for After!
And perhaps I'm in love with this bathroom.
Things we've done: .
painted (twice),
.
molding,
.
carpet,
.
blinds,
.
ceiling fan,
.
AC vent,
.
switched electrical stuff,
.
bathroom stuff got same treatment as front bathroom, everything ripped out and retextured and replaced with pretty stuff,
.
new towel ring, towel rack, and toilet paper holder that all match.
.
Things we'd still like to do:
.
new shower door.
.
We also changed out all of the door handles and hinges because they were really ugly. And even though most people wouldn't notice, we think it totally classed it up.
And I know this isn't pretty, but guess what aren't cheap?
AC units. Here's our new one.
Thanks for coming on our tour! As you can see we've done lots to our house and made it feel like a home, not just a place that you bought that an iguana used to live! And, if anyone has any questions about handyman work, we are practically pros now!
.
Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!

Oh my gosh I LOVE your house! I would love to buy something and totally redo everything to make it pretty and something you want. I can't wait to not have to rent and be able to know where we will be and be able to buy something! You guys did a great job and I will definately need your help when I get to redo everything! haha. And I LOVE the stripes, I have always wanted to do those, so someday in the perfect room, I will! Good job!
Holy cute! I'm so proud of you! I could never do something that cute. Your party looked rockin! It was the busiest night for us, so, sorry we couldn't make it. Raincheck? (aka: can I invite myself over some other time?)
Oh, and that picture of your door handle- did you take that yourself? It's 100% professional. And I'm narrowing down my new camera choices, so does yours take really awesome pictures like that easily?
I love your house! That was an amazing transformation, I loved the before and after photos. My favorite is your new bathroom stuff in your room, it looks so great!
WOW! It looks really great! Yeah for finished projects. It was a lot of work, but now look at it! We really do need to meet up for lunch one of these days. Hope you and Phil are doing great! haha. Let me know when you are in the mood for some more remodeling...I have plenty of projects I am wanting to do at my house! =) Talk to you later.
P.s. I absolutely miss your humor...the part about the iguana...made me laugh!
I know this is such a random comment to make when you've gone through & shown so many pics of how amazingly you've changed the place... but its wierd seeing you with that long of hair!
holy schmoley! i love it! i love love love your bathroom! i love the "M" and "P" hanging above your bed, did ya make them? way adorable. your decorating style is so cute. you two rock the party for a.) being smart enough to buy when the market was incredible and b.) for doing that all yourselves! our house had been remodeled by the previous owners so i dont get the privledge of taking credit on the work, so kudos to you. thanks for the tour.
I love every inch of this house that was touched by you... the striped room is probably my favorite. No the reading nook in the striped room. No, I think I love the huge "Lindblom" in the kitchen.... or just that awesome picture of the handle on the door... I am a sucker for photography though.. So so fun. I wish I could have warmed your house with you... in fact, think of this cyber comment like some sort of a candle or cheesy wreath or something..... that should do it.
Holy extreme makeover home edition! Mel, it's awesome! I LOVE...your tile, your carpet, your paint, your decor, your cute table!, your fun white mirror, your reading nook, your super fun m&p, your very grown-up&chic bathroom, the colors, the cabinets...everything! Oh, and let's not forget to have a moment of silence for your cute craft shelves. Isn't it so satisfying looking @ the cute fruits of your labor!? I'm jeal. Have fun LOVING being @ home in your cute, cute house. Congratulations kids!
Holy cow! I'm so impressed with everything you did! I don't think I could even be that creative to think of what I could change, let alone do all the work and change it! You're amazing! And your hubby of course, assuming he helped lots too. ;) Once we get a place of our own I'll have to ask you how you were able to do everything... literally... everything! I'm completely floored with the 100% improvement! Awesome and I love it!
Everything looks awesome, I can't wait until we're finally finished. Where did you get the letters for Lindblom and the 'M' and 'P'? I would love to do something similar.
Leah
Wow Melissa, your condo is SO cute! Great job at all your hard work!
Your house is so CUTE I am literally jealous. I have been in my house for two years now I no joke I still have frames with no pictures in them and decor that have yet to be put up, all because I have no idea where to put them. wa to go you are the Master decorator...I hate you.
Wow, way to go Melissa! Your house is way cute!! I don't think I could even attempt something like that. I love the stripes (aparently everyone else does also) Who da thunk the before pictures could turn into the after ones...I'm extremely impressed. PS I love reading/stalking your blog (sorry) you're hilarious! Anyway, congrats on finishing, it's beautiful!
LOVE IT!
Love how you don't shy away from color, and love how you turned such an iguana infested space into a home worthy of HGTV. You've got the touch. The "before" picture of you and your companion are outstanding.
& Glad you enjoyed my reading recommendations.
Did I ever tell you how proud I am of you? I would like to name your condo Diamond in the Rough. You sure have made it shine! (I'm a mom.)
Your house looks so amazing Melissa! I am so impressed! You guys did such a great job! ALSO>>>>>>
I am the worst friend. I am so sorry I didn't call you on your birthday! I hope you had the best time on your birthday. I knew it was right next to mine. I am so sorry. You are the cutest to remember mine. Thank you.
23 isn't too bad huh?
Love you!
Melis
No snoring to Kev, you hypocrite! (Is it only church people who use the term hypocrite?)
New post, new post, new post at lunch!!!
I'm considering doing 15 more comments with just a frownie face to meet your quota before you'll post again, but I don't want to be that big of a jerk.
you inspire me Melissa!
k, that was better than any show on HGTV! Amazing transformations I love it!! Can't wait to hang out at the cousins party!
